As believers you know his great worth—indeed, his preciousness is imparted to you. But for those who do not believe: The stone that the builders rejected and discarded has now become the cornerstone 8 …They keep stumbling over the message because they refuse to believe it.

Have you ever complimented someone and as you’re saying it, you just know they don’t believe you? Or perhaps they get the compliment, simply nod, mumble thanks and move on. It is discarded, not believed, and no matter how true it is, there is no convincing the recipient of the truth in the statement.
It is hard to accept anything good about ourselves. We know ourselves as no other. We see and know our own thoughts and attitudes, the secrets, the hidden places. Our shortcomings seem to be highlighted.. Our thought is, “you really don’t know me because if you did, you would not say that”.
Who decides a person’s worth? The CreatOR or the creatED? We have decided our own worth and value and yet, we are the created. If our value is elevated to any degree, we shrug it off and say, “they don’t know”.
Gideon did just that. He shrugged off what the Angel of the Lord said to him that he was a mighty man of valor. He didn’t believe the word of the Lord. Gideon argued with the Lord and said, “Evidently you don’t understand. You can’t define me, rather, life defines me and I am nothing.”
Just as the Lord knew Gideon, He knows you, really knows you. He knows you best, better than you know yourself and He declares your worth. The Creator declares who you are. He has set your worth as the most valuable and the most treasured of all possessions.
The Creator came, gave Himself for you, because He is your worth! Think on that for a moment. Your worth is equal to The Creator’s very Life. He came here and has joined you in every way possible, in every aspect of life. He joined you in your suffering. He joined you in your shame, anxiety, worry, fear, pain, abandonment, uncleanness and sorrow because you are His delight.
You were and are worth the rescue. Let the Lord define you. Receive what He declares to be true about you. Don’t argue it; don’t shrug it off; don’t let it go. God defines you, just as His word defined Gideon. Open your heart to receive God’s defining word about you. Your identity is in God. Look at the above scripture again, v7, “As believers you know his great worth—indeed, his preciousness is imparted to you.” He is of great worth and so are you!
