Who is God? God is the one who created you. And if He fashioned you, then He knows who you are. If He made you, then you who are made can not look at the Maker and define Him. But isn’t that what we do? We look at our circumstances and feelings and think that is God. The best way to know God is to let Him reveal Himself to you; He wants you to know who He is! He reveals who He is through the Old Testament and His prophets and ultimately through His Son Jesus – God from God!
Who is God? God is Love! Jesus said God is Love! This love is not some sentimental sweetness which depends on feeling. God – Love – is powerful. If God is personable, then He is not some force. A force can’t love you. Love is living and demands someone to love and respond.
God is Love! His very essence – His being is love. God does not “have” love; He is Love. His love does not go up and down and He can not be more than He is or less than He is. Love is all He ever has been and ever will be! And Love never takes; Love never hurts. it only gives!
Love does not depend on your performance to give to you. He doesn’t wait until you “measure up”. Love – God – reaches down into the darkest corner of your life when you are at your worst – into your sadness, anger, frustration, sickness, unworthiness, rejection. Love comes after you to hold you, to comfort you, to enable you. Love smiles at you and hugs you.
