And the LORD said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”
— Judges 6:16 (NKJ)
Have you noticed that the Lord did not engage in Gideon’s negativity? Every time the Lord declares who Gideon is, Gideon counters it by responding with the exact opposite words back to the Lord, but the Lord does not argue Gideon’s point.
The Lord does not say, “Gideon, you really do have a spirit of fear, worry and anxiety. You have trust issues. You definitely have things we need to talk through.” He does not say, “True, you are the least. However, I see you as mighty”.
The Lord never acknowledges Gideon’s negativity or comments. The Lord doesn’t counter it or try to convince Gideon by argument. Nope, the Lord just states how He sees Gideon. He says again, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”
God is Truth and there is no falsehood in God. What He says is right. He was stating the truth about Gideon. He was declaring who Gideon was, a mighty man of valor. He told him the Lord was with him and he would defeat the enemy as one man.
Why did God not engage him? Look at Numbers 23:19; Hebrews 6:18; Titus 1:2. Here we see God can not lie. It is impossible for Him to lie. Therefore, if He lied then He would cease to be. God could not acknowledge Gideon’s wrong beliefs. If He did then He would be stating lies and there are no lies in God.
God will not argue. He only states the truth. You are who God says you are. That is truth. He simply declares who you are. You must decide to say what God says about you or to say what you think.
What God says about me is what I declare about me! God is truth. I am who He says I am. God says I am righteous. God says I am healed. God says I am blessed. God says I am loved. God says I am favored. God says I am protected. I am everything God says I am.
Declare who you are in the face of all the lies you have believed and bought into over the years. God is truth and there is no shadow of turning with Him. He will not change His mind about you and you can not make Him change His mind about you. You are His beloved – forever!
“You are defined by God’s word. Nothing can change that!”
