The love of the Father for me is my love for you – abide in my love for you.
— John 15:9 (The Mirror)
God’s love is an abiding place and is there whether you receive it or not because it just is. To dwell in the love of God is really to be in the position of receiving. It is often hard for us to receive God’s love because we do not feel worthy of love, especially of God’s unconditional love. Our mentality is based on conditions and requirements. We place these on ourselves thus limiting ourselves from experiencing that dwelling place.
In 1 John 4:19, we read that we love Him because He first loved us. We do respond to his love by loving him but the dwelling part is in receiving, accepting and wrapping yourself in the awareness of how much He loves you.
We all have had moments in life where we are not really present to the present, where we are a million miles away and have to get back into the current moment. That is what you have to do here. You have to be present to His tender love for you every moment. And to do that you have to accept that you are valuable and worthy of love, then you open yourself up to experience the dwelling place in the heart of the Trinity.
