Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.
— John 2:6-8
Jesus said, “fill the large stone waterpots and fill them to the brim.” Why didn’t He say fill the wine barrels? Because there was probably wine left in them, so He said fill the waterpots where there has been no wine – and fill them to the very top. The servants are watching intently as the glass is being taken to the MC. What will happen?
Jesus said,“fill the waterpots with water”. In the natural, this seems silly. What good is It going to do to fill the pots with water? The servants may have thought, “we don’t need more water, we need wine!” I recently heard this statement: the impossible makes way for the possible. No way was water going to taste like wine – impossible. But with Jesus, it was possible! He used what was available to do a miracle. However, if the servants had not obeyed by putting the water into the pots, there would have been no wine.
Jesus is in your situation right now. If you are looking at the “impossible”, then know that with Jesus there is no impossible. He makes a way where you see no way. That’s who He is. Abba Father wanted to bless His children at that simple country wedding. These were ordinary people whom He loved so very much. Therefore, He gave the okay for Jesus to do something good for them.
This is His message to you now. He wants to show Himself strong on your behalf, to help you, to make a way, to heal, to direct, to supply, to mend. Tell Him what you need without begging. Instead begin to thank and praise Him for the answer. Magnify and exalt Him. He understands the ordinary because He has lived in the ordinary. He lives to bless His children!
