Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.
— Proverbs 4:23 (CSB)
This month we are going on a journey to understand a bit more about the heart. The heart is the seat of your identity. Whether we realize it or not, it is from the heart we find who we believe ourselves to be.
Whether a right identity or a wrong identity, it comes from what is in the heart. The heart determines, for each of us, who we believe ourselves to be. And if someone tries to sway us otherwise, the heart will not budge unless it has strong evidence. The heart will follow the side having more evidence.
You can try to convince someone of something until you are blue in the face, but it will only fall on deaf ears because that person will not turn from the beliefs of his heart.
We have been collecting evidence all of our lives and our heart has deeply rooted beliefs that shape our identity and this shapes the pathway of life. The heart is the source of what we believe and ultimately how our life is lived out. We are to guard it for the pathways of life stem from the heart which is the seat of our identity.
Thus the journey of gathering evidence.
This month and maybe into the next we will be learning how to change the beliefs of our heart which is done by gathering evidence, a conscious or unconscious collecting. We are excited to share with you what we are learning and we pray that you are blessed as we have been.
Happy New Year! A year of new beginnings….let’s start with our heart beliefs.
