The LORD is the one who will go before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
— Deuteronomy 31:8 (CSB)
As the Israelites were getting ready to go into the promise land after wandering 40 years in the wilderness (by their own choice), God spoke to Moses and said to tell them the above words. These are reassuring and powerful words, but unless they are taken to heart, they will not help.
It’s the same with us today. Just reading words really has little affect on us. Only when we meditate, ponder, imagine and contemplate something does it make a difference in our lives.
Whatever you are facing today, remember that God’s words are for real. As a child, do you remember saying to someone who just told you something amazing, “for real?”
God is not a man that He lies, so what He says is for real! He can not lie because that would go against His character. So close your eyes and picture yourself in your scary situation and see the Lord Jesus with you. He is not going to leave you on your own and will never run away. Someone who is never going to leave you, values you. When someone values you, they love you.
“Do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
