God Only Has Good

June 22, 2025

God does not act in contradiction to His name.

God is not a man, that he might lie, or a son of man, that he might change his mind. Does he speak and not act, or promise and not fulfill?

— Numbers 23:19 (CSB)

God is Good and God is Sovereign in that He is not ruled by any outside sources. However, He made a decision to give man freedom of choice and limited Himself by letting us have freedom to choose. Once He did that, even after Adam and Eve rebelled, He did not change His mind and force them to choose His way. Therefore, God did not control what they did. He gave them authority to rule over the earth, over everything, except each other. After they rebelled, He went looking for them because He still loved them and wanted to help them. He did not condemn them.

“Religion has led us to believe that God is bound by no rules, that God is to be blamed for everything that goes wrong, and man has little or no responsibility or authority. This doctrine has caused people to hate God more than any other corrupt doctrine.

God is sovereign but He cannot lie, which means once He established truth, He cannot change His mind. He cannot contradict Himself. He cannot call Himself by a name and then act contradictory to that name. He cannot make a promise and then take it back. Therefore, God’s sovereignty is governed by His Word. If God were a liar, then He could not be trusted”. (Dr. Jim Richards) God cannot deny Himself! (2 Timothy 2:13)

Seeing God, in the light of who He says and shows us He is, has caused me to take a look at the way I have seen Him in the past. I always said I trusted Him, but wasn’t sure what He might have me go through. We will have troubles in this world, but I am beginning to understand they can not be from God because He can not deny Himself, change who He is.

Be encouraged because Abba Father is with you and for you. You can trust Him. He is not the one to blame for the bad things in your life.

“You can’t resist the devil if you think God is to blame.”
