“The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ The King of Israel!”
— John 12:12-13
This appeared to be a glorious time when the city recognized who Jesus really was! They were excited – running along beside the donkey, praising and dancing proclaiming Jesus as their King! The people loved Him! But in a few days, many of those same people were going to turn against Him wanting to kill Him. What happened? Circumstances changed and feelings changed.
Was Jesus devastated because of the change? No, He knew how fickle people were! He didn’t depend on what people thought of Him to get His worth. He knew who He was and that the Father’s Love never changes. Today, they loved Him and wanted to make Him their King. In a week, they were going to crucify Him.
Jesus did not look for acceptance and approval from people. He didn’t feel good about Himself because the crowd loved Him and were shouting praises to Him. Jesus knew who He was, that He was the Father’s Beloved, no matter what the crowd thought of Him.
You must not look to people for acceptance and approval either. Otherwise, you will feel up one day and down the next. The Father’s love for you and His acceptance of you is constant. It does not waver. Knowing this makes you a confident and secure person, as Jesus was. “Let” yourself be loved by Him and rest in His acceptance. He shows you how to live.
“Jesus has been through the darkest night; The Father’s love was there.”
