Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
— Proverbs 3:5 (NKJ)
Trust is the LORD with all your heart, not in your mind only. Lots of times we acknowledge truth with our mind, but it is not settled in our heart.
All of us face challenges everyday. Each challenge brings a choice – to give in to emotions coming at us through the circumstances or to remind ourselves of who God is and what He says.
Let’s say you have a challenge at work, at home, or physically. Your mind says you should trust in the LORD, but your heart says I’ve got to figure this out. Worry, anxiousness and fear rush in.
You have made the choice to go with your emotions. But you can change that. Intentionally send away fear and worry . Then remind yourself that God is Trustworthy.
He brought the Israelites through the wilderness. He gave young David strength to kill Goliath. He saved the Jews through Esther. Last week, He solved your problem with your car or job or whatever. REMIND YOURSELF! Then make the choice to put on trust.
You choose to focus intentionally on God’s character – that He is Faithful and Trustworthy. STOP thinking about the problem!
This is not a one time fix; you must choose to trust God again and again. It does get easier, but it has to be intentional and purposeful.
