“You are to speak to the people of Israel and say, ‘Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the LORD, sanctify you.

Jehovah M’Kaddesh means “The LORD sanctifies you” and is the next Covenant Name. Here the LORD is saying that just as He set aside the Sabbath to be a holy day, different from the other six days, He is setting you aside as holy unto Him.
Under the Old Covenant, the Sabbath was a day that was to be kept holy, uncommon, by not working. Instead, they were to rest. It was a time to worship and honor the LORD, remembering His goodness. This was a shadow of what was to come in Jesus.
Jesus is now our Sabbath because we rest in His death, burial and resurrection. We do not work to earn salvation; we receive it as a free gift and we enter into rest by believing in Him and His finished work. (Hebrews 4:3)
Therefore, we are sanctified, set apart unto God, the Father. We are to be different from the world. Our values should look different. When the world begins to compromise family, work ethics, etc, we need to abide by God’s logos – His word.
Jesus’ life looked different while he was on earth. He never gave in to the world’s pressure. And Jesus said in John 17:16-17, “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”
This week imagine yourself sitting with Jesus. Talk to Him about the pressures, obligations and responsibilities you are facing. As you read the gospels, open your heart to hear Him speaking to you, leading and guiding you. Ask Him to show you how to apply what you read to your life each day. He is real and wants to be real to you.
Give Him time. He has set you apart unto Himself and from the world. Now set yourself apart unto Him.
He is Jehovah M’Kaddesh, Eternally your Sanctifier.
