See The Hand Of God

September 8, 2024

God always makes a way.

They walked unseen past the first guard post and then the second before coming to the iron gate that leads to the city—and the gate swung open all by itself right in front of them! . . .

— Acts 12:10 (TPT)

Peter had been thrown into prison and in the night an angel came to him and said follow me. Here is a situation where there was no way in the natural for Peter to escape, BUT God made a way. Our deliverance from situations may not be as dramatic as this but God WILL ALWAYS make a way for us.

However, I am reminded of something miraculous that happened many years ago when my first husband, Peter, now deceased, and I were leading 14 young people from CFNI on a singing tour in Scandinavia. We arrived in Sweden by train after 6 PM needing to get to the bus stop to catch a ride to the ship going to Finland. The money changers had left for the day because it was after hours. So there was no time or way for us to change our money into their currency. Also we were on a time schedule. We tried to get through the turning stiles but none of them would budge.

Gathering together, we prayed for God to open a way for us because we didn’t know what to do and we had a ship to catch. As I looked at the line of turning stiles, I felt to go down to the last one again with the group following me. I pushed against it and it turned. Quickly, all sixteen of us went through and on to the elevator going down to the street. When we exited onto the street, we saw the bus stop. Still, we had no money to give the driver. However, when the bus came, we all boarded it and started singing.

Songs in beautiful harmony of praise and adoration to the Lord filled the bus. The driver who drove us to the ship never once asked for a ticket or money. We continued to praise and thank God for getting us where we needed to be in order to meet our schedule.

What a God and what an experience! That summer was full of examples of God taking care of us, opening doors and leading us. Since then, Abba has continued to lead and guide me even though the ways have not been as dramatic. God has worked in what seemed ordinary ways. When I look back, I see the hand of God moving throughout my life. He is so Faithful!

I don’t know what you are facing right now, but don’t give up. God is GOOD and He has good for you even though you may not see it immediately. Hopefully, this story has encouraged you. He is the same yesterday, today and forever and He does not favor one person over another.

And don’t say, “I’m not as faithful as that person. I don’t pray or read my Bible enough.” God’s answer to prayer has nothing to do with your faithfulness or your goodness. It has everything to do with Jesus’ faithfulness and righteousness. Yes, He wants us to be faithful, but our part is to believe and trust Him. He has done his part through Jesus. We receive and believe in his death, burial and resurrection. Through this, we have all we need even though we may not see it immediately.

“Plop into the chair of promise and sigh an amen – its done!”
