Fear cannot co-exist in this love realm. The perfect love union that we are talking about expels fear. Fear holds onto an expectation of crisis and judgment (which brings separation) and interprets it as due punishment. It echoes torment and only registers in someone who does not yet realize the completeness of their love union. (With the Father, Son and Spirit and with one another.)
— John 4:18 (Mirror Bible)
In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve rejected God’s love. He loved them and they turned from His love to the lie of “Be Independent!” You don’t need God. He doesn’t really love you all that much anyway. You can find yourself in yourself, outside of Agape – LOVE. They took the lie.
What happened? When they rejected God’s love, suddenly, there was a vacuum inside of them. This vacuum will be filled. Instead of receiving and accepting God’s love, they turned from it and in the absence of His love came fear. Adam’s first words were, “I was afraid.”
We live in fear of not being good enough and feel we have to earn a place “back into His good graces”. We believe the lies “God is displeased”, or that “I am not good enough”, and “I need to work harder”. Then we begin to function out of fear while having these three words, “God loves me” plastered in our verbiage.
Getting back into “His good graces” is totally opposite of truth because there is no earning our way back. We are already there, accepted and in His good graces – loved.
Perfect love casts out fear. (1 John 4:18) When you know His love is based on who He is and not on who you are then fear begins to dissipate and you begin to rest in His love which is given, not earned.
We were created in love, to know love and to abide in love. God’s love is not based on whether you feel His love or not. He loves you and proved He loves you. Your value is found in what He gave you, Himself.
Keep yourself in the truth that you are valuable, you are loved. Guard it, protect it, meditate on it, swim in it, revel in it. You are IN His love all the time.
You don’t float in and out of His love; it is a constant. When you know and accept this basic truth, you will be set free to live the abundant life Jesus gave us.
