The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.
— Psalm 19:1-4 (NKJ)
God’s plan was ordained before time was and His plan of love was set in place (1 Peter 1:20). Because He loved us, He established a plan to redeem and rescue us before we even existed. Think about that. He has loved you from before the beginning of time.
God said, “Let there be light” and the heavenly bodies were put into place – the sun, moon, stars, planets and galaxies. These were not haphazardly strewn into the heavenlies. It was all calculated. Each movement had to be timed so they were in the right place when Jesus was born. All this was taken into account at creation when they were set into motion.
Technology now allows us to see the stars and the planets at any given moment in time. We can see the heavens telling God’s story and we can see their placement at the birth of Jesus. It was perfect timing! All was set in the exact, intended place declaring God’s love story.
The magi saw the story in the skies, the signs in the heavenlies, and knew a King was born. They began their journey to find, see and worship this King.
The stars were declaring the story of Jesus. In Genesis 15:5, God tells Abraham to count the stars. One definition of the Hebrew word sapar translated here as count means to recount or relate. In other places, it is translated as tell or speak.
God says to Abraham, “Look at the skies. Do you see my story in the skies? Can you recount my story of redemption and love? It is there Abraham. Can you relate this story?” Abraham saw the story in the heavens!
Genesis 15:5 says, “So shall your descendants be”. Really, this word in the Hebrew is singular and should be translated as descendant. “Abraham, your descendant (Galatians 3:16) will be the Great Redeemer! Do you believe Abraham?” Abraham believed. He saw the story of God and it was credited to him as righteousness.
In studying Abraham from historical documents, you find that he was extremely knowledgable in math and astronomy. He fully understood what he saw in the heavens.
Psalm 19:1 ”The heavens declare the glory of God . . .” Interestingly, the word declare is from the same Hebrew root word sapar meaning tell or speak. Keep in mind that the skies tell the story. They declare God’s glory and pour forth speech telling us the plan of God!
God has been telling His great plan of redemption in numerous ways since the beginning of time. His timetable is perfect. Imagine again the moment arriving and God seeing His plan of the ages unfold. What excitement! What rejoicing!
Father God has not forgotten you. You are at the center of His love and care. He has done everything to bring you to Himself by planning the great rescue before time began with perfect precision. He cares for you.
“LOVE has come”
