“I in them and you in me, so that they shall be perfected as one, and so that the world shall know that you have sent me, and that you have loved them just as you have also loved Me.”
— John 17:23 (ABPE)
We all experience times of darkness. Jesus understands because He experienced the darkness to the fullest. Whatever you feel, or have been through, know that Jesus has been there. He knows the shame, humiliation, judgment, pain, rejection. He took it all and faced it to the Nth degree.
Being human and having three parts as we do, Jesus experienced and faced the darkness in all three parts of his being – for us. He suffered horrific torture in His physical body (Isaiah 52:14). He endured immense suffering in His soul (Hebrews 12:2) and His spirit faced the darkest darkness in hell (Ephesians 4:9-10).
When you feel forsaken, rejected, forgotten and are facing the darkness, know that your redeeming Savior has been there. He declares to us The Father’s love is even in the darkest darkness. You are dearly loved. Nothing can change that.
