Trust In His Care

Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.

— Matthew 8:26. (NLT)

Continuing with the same verse from last week, let’s think again about what was happening. The boat was sinking and they were bailing out water, Peter panics and said, “we are going to die!” Jesus said, “why are you so afraid?” Oh my! Really? What a question! At this point, voices were screaming in Peter’s head with, “What is going to happen? What are we going to do? We are sinking.” And Jesus asks, “why are you afraid” when the boat seems to be going down in a hurricane of hurricanes. 

It seems like a silly question to the natural mind. But Jesus is saying, “Look at Me. You can trust Me.” The Father and I have this under control. Jesus was human and had all the feelings that you and I have, yet He never responded to anything in fear or panic. Remember, He was sleeping – probably from exhaustion. He trusted His Father so He learned to live from peace. 

Jesus has the answer to whatever you are facing, but you won’t find it in the screaming, howling voices of anxiety and fear. You learn to live in the peace of God by knowing that He loves you. Then you are able to put yourself in complete trust in His care.
