Jesus Took Care of Your Enemy

“The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.”

— 1 John 3:8

As I was reading this verse I saw this picture: a street with apartments side by side. In one of the apartments lived a boy who came out the front door and down the steps everyday. A big bully was always waiting for him – jeering at him, calling him names, pushing him and knocking him to the ground. Meanwhile, the neighbor was watching from his window. One day he decided enough was enough so he went out and flattened the big bully saying, “you will not bother my friend ever again because I am watching out for him!” After that day, the big bully continued to pop up behind a car or a bush to try and scare the boy but to no avail. When the boy saw him, he got a big grin on his face and yelled, “you can’t hurt me because my friend took care of you and he is watching out for me. I am not afraid of you anymore!”

Jesus took care of your enemy. When he pops up and tries to intimidate or discourage you through circumstances and people, you must remind yourself that Jesus has defeated him. He has no power – only tricks. Remember what Jesus has done for you! He is watching out for you! Don’t be afraid!
