“Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being…”
— Philippians 2:6-7
Jesus came into our darkness. He left behind His divine nature and abilities and became weak – a human. Jesus was extraordinary but He became ordinary to become one of us – to identify with us in every way. He learned how to build from his earthly father and worked with him in the family business everyday from the time he was a teenager. He built tables, stools, chairs, gates, stables, homes. I’m sure he took orders and measured. He got hot and sweaty, tired. He did ORDINARY things. Had to deal with unexpected challenges each day and had feelings of frustration. He probably dropped things, may have hit his finger with the hammer. His earthly father died and He most likely took over the business because He was the oldest. He faced the grief of loss. He knows and has felt what you feel. He understands.
