And I said, “This is my anguish; But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High. I will remember the works of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds.”
— Psalms 77:10-12
The psalmist’s anguish here was that it appeared God had forgotten him in this challenging time. However, he shifted his focus off that wrong thought and began to remind himself of whom God is – LOVE and what He had done in the past. He began to meditate which means to imagine goodness and all the mighty acts of God. Each time his mind pictured something bad, David changed the channel – changed the picture. And He talked, spoke out loud, of God’s miracles and faithfulness. He said something like, “God, you are my shepherd and I trust you as Love and Goodness. Thank you for working now even though I don’t see it or feel it. I magnify You over my problem.”
