Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
— Galatians 6:7-8 (NKJ)
The scripture above is saying that we should not be fooled because God is not to be ridiculed or blamed for what happens in a person’s life. For whatever a man, not God, but whatever a man or woman sows is what that man or woman will reap. It’s not God’s doing. God did not sow the seed and He is not causing you to reap the consequences.
This is why it is so important to pay attention to what you spend time focusing on. You make the choice. I’m amazed at what you can do on your cell phone these days. You can find, read about and watch most anything and it’s easy to get caught up in it. Also, television can bring unwanted things into your life. These things influence us because seeds are being planted when we spend time listening and watching stuff. Without realizing it, time slips away and you’ve been bombarded with all kinds of information. Some good and some not so good.
Think about what you deal with. It may be wrong judgments, self pity, anger, depression, fear, etc. Then think about what you have been putting in your mind which gets into your heart. Where is it coming from?
Many times, we cry out to God to take this anger or depression or fear away. Yet, He is not the one who controls that. You and I do. Think back over your day to find out what seed you have been planting in your mind. What have you thought about most of the day? Unhealthy seeds can creep into your life subtly.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you be aware of your thoughts. He is your guide, always wanting to help you hear and see when you are going down a wrong path. He is not the one allowing or bringing bad things into your life. It comes from what you dwell and focus on. You have the power to change those thoughts. Open your heart to Him now. Give Him time and listen. Make a change. You will begin to reap peace and trust, instead of worry and self pity.
