He stooped down to lift me out of danger from the desolate pit I was in, out of the muddy mess I had fallen into. Now he’s lifted me up into a firm, secure place and steadied me while I walk along his ascending path.
— Psalm 40:2 (TPT)
This man finds the treasure. He burrows his hands into the dirt up to his elbows and pulls it out. He fingers it, holds it and delights in his find. It is tarnished and seems to be worthless but the man knows its value. He gave up everything to find what? The buried treasure!
Jesus was the man looking for the buried treasure. He came, wallowed in our dirt and mud to find us. He came into the pit, in the dirt to pull us out.
In order to rescue us, He had to come where we were. He stepped into time and lived here as one of us. He stooped down by becoming one of us. He didn’t put on a costume and then discard it when the show was over.
He became human and is still The Son of God and at the same time The Son of Man. He has not discarded his humanity. He became one of us and He is still one of us.
It is really beyond our comprehension to fully understand what Jesus did to find us. In order to rescue us, He had to be one of us. He has gone through everything you have been through and will go through. He became an embryo and grew in the womb of a woman. He passed through the birth canal and was born fully human.
Jesus learned how to live as we learn how to live. He had to learn how to stand, walk, talk, play and interact with others. As a young man, He learned a trade and ran a business experiencing life as we do by living from day to day (Luke 2:52).
You have been rescued from the system of this world by Jesus. He came into the mud, pulled you out of the miry clay and set you upon The Rock – Himself. God gave Himself, God from God.
This is what God has done to find you. You are His treasured possession. He stopped at nothing to find you, stooping down to rescue you. You are His delight and the joy of His heart. (Hebrews 12:2)
He is one of us and we are now in union with Him. We are above and not beneath. We are His beloved living in the heart of the trinity.
“Surrender – accept His acceptance of you.”
