Good Fruit, Bad Fruit

October 25, 2026

A change in a habitual thought will change your fruit.

If however you have risen with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, enthroned at God’s right hand. Give your minds to the things that are above, not to the things that are on the earth.

— Colossians 3:1-2 (WNT)

There are good emotions as well as harmful ones. God tells us to be joyful, to taste (experience, personally engage) and see (perceive His never changing goodness) that He is good (Psalm 34:8), to smell His sweet aroma, to feel (experience) His love. Having these feelings bring thoughts of joy, contentment and satisfaction.

Harmful emotions are fear, discouragement, disappointment, depression, inferiority, inadequacy, anger, and self pity. Something happens to trigger these and then our thoughts go wild.

A continuous thought plus emotion creates a heart belief – good or bad. The more we think about a problem, the worse the situation becomes. The more we think about the goodness of God, the better the situation becomes.

You choose where your thoughts go, which direction, and you get the fruit from your decision. No one does this to you or for you. You bring it on yourself. It’s your choice.

How do you get rid of bad fruit on a tree? Do you keep picking it off the tree and throwing it away? No, because it will only continue to come back. You have to go to the root of the tree and cut it down.

So in order to get rid of the thoughts that bring destruction into your life, you have to cut them out of your life. Decide to throw them out when they pop up. Starve them. And don’t say, “I won’t think that, I won’t think that”. By doing that, you put wood on the fire and they continue to grow.

Throw them out and replace them with what is true and good. You cut the root!

“A simple change in thought can turn the tide of any situation”.
