When I saw it, I considered it well; I looked on it and received instruction:
— Proverbs 24:32 (NKJ)
He’s saying that when he got a clear mental picture, he thought about it and then he knew what to do. To get a clear mental picture, you need to use your imagination.
Imagine being on the side of the hill as Jesus is teaching and you are hungry. As you see the disciples telling everyone to sit in groups, you sit, too. What is happening?Jesus lifts up a small amount of food. He looks up and then blesses it. He gives each disciple some of the food. They begin to divide it and hand it out to the people. What is going on? You get excited because everyone is being fed. How can this be?! The food is multiplying. No! Yes! How thrilling! Everybody is talking and thanking God. Who is this man? You want to see and hear more. . . .
After living this story through your imagination, you remind yourself that God will provide for you, too, because He is the same yesterday, today and forever. You have seen the picture and you have considered it, pondered and imagined it and you have received hope – confident expectation of good.
Get that vision – that mental picture – as you read the Bible. Let it come alive. You see God in His glory and goodness – loving, providing and taking care of you. You see yourself as you should be – a new person living from the new you. You are using your imagination the way God intended.
As you see the picture God shows you in scripture and you consider, ponder and imagine it, you receive hope, instruction and direction. That’s what the Father wants for you and me.
