while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
— 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NKJ)
Everything we see with our natural eye will pass away. That’s hard to take in because it seems so real to us now. And because we see it that way, we put a lot of emphasis on the known or “real” world as we call it, even though this is not the real world.
So how do you make the unseen world real? You use your imagination and picture it in your mind. There is no other way. You close your eyes and visualize the unseen world God talks about in the Bible.
As a child maybe you had a make believe playmate or a pretend dog. You may have imagined you were a fireman, nurse, singer, pilot, scientist or that you walked on the moon. The point is you used your imagination, but as you got older you let those visuals in your mind go. You may have been told they were silly, so stop pretending. Most of us did just that. We let our imagination go. You still pictured things, but you didn’t think of it as imagination.
You can use your imagination for good or for bad. Interestingly, as I read and study the Bible, I am made aware of just how important our imagination is. Over and over, in different ways God tells us to use the imagination. He doesn’t use that word, but he says to ponder, mediate, think about and see. When you do that, you are using your imagination.
We will be discovering some of those passages and, hopefully, reviving our imagination because only when we behold God and see as He sees do we become like HIm.
Take his words to heart and imagine them happening. Do this several times throughout the day and at night when you are in bed. It will begin to transform your life.
