Perfect, absolute peace surrounds those whose imaginations are consumed with you; they confidently trust in you.
— Isaiah 26:3 (TPT)
Imagine means to frame up in the Bible – to frame up one’s reality. The imagination stirs up feelings and the combination of imagination plus feelings leads to an imprint on the heart. It becomes a heart belief and heart beliefs become our reality; we live it out.
Have you ever known a person who didn’t like someone so much that they became consumed with not being like that person? They always said they would never be like that person. Yet, over time they became just like the person they despised. Why does that happen? Because thoughts of that person consumed them.
Over and over they imagined what that person did; they even had thoughts of revenge and why it was justified. That person was constantly in their mind – the one they didn’t want to be like.
Their thoughts were continually focused on what that person had done, stirring up feelings and this combination imprinted their heart, creating a heart belief. They framed up their own reality and eventually became the very person they were consumed with.
In these next devotionals, we will be looking at the importance of the imagination. It is vital and we have lost it. We will see the value of imagining and deciding where we will put out thoughts.
Imagine yourself in the Gospels with Jesus, hear the crowds, feel the heat of the day, the dust of the road on your feet, the crowds straining to see Jesus, the Messiah. Put yourself there so that it comes alive to you. Behold Him here on earth as the Son of Man – picture it, see it, hear it, smell it, taste it, feel it. lmagine!
Imagination leads to feelings which establish the beliefs of the heart.
