Just Be

August 30, 2026

Be a human being not a human doing.

For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel:  “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” . . .

— Isaiah 30:15 (NKJ)

This world we live in is full of busyness and unrest. Time is filled with cell phones, videos, games, movies and on and on it goes.  People choose noise, not quietness.  Why? Maybe because noise drowns out having to face consequences head on. It’s easier to let each day play itself out and then pick up the pieces and start another day.

However, letting each day happen by default usually results in chaos leading to unhappiness and more stress.  Abba Father tells us what to do about this. He says that in returning to Him by acknowledging that He loves you, even really likes you, has good for you and resting in that is what saves you from stress and chaos.

God is Sovereign in the fact that He is able to do anything but He has limited Himself by giving you a choice. He will not make you do the right thing. People blame God for every bad thing and say He could have stopped it. Wrong. Look at this truth again: He has limited Himself by giving you and me a choice.  We make a choice and we reap the fruit of that choice. He gave Adam a choice; He did not make Adam sin and He did not stop him. Yet even though Adam had to suffer the consequences of his choice, God had a plan to save him.

God is never out to condemn or belittle you. His desire is always to help you. But you can only by helped by sitting quietly and observing what is happening in your life. Perhaps you need to stop rushing ahead thinking you got this and instead sit in God’s presence allowing Him to speak. Be open to another way. Listen, pay attention and be quiet.

You can do this. You can return to Him and rest. You will find that in being quiet and being confident that He is for you not against you, knowing in your heart that He loves you and desires the best for you, you will find strength.
