You Are The Joy

April 5, 2026

Jesus wasn’t forced on the cross; He chose it because of you.

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

— Hebrews 12:2 (NKJ)

To the world, the cross which Jesus bore was not victory or triumph, it was torture. Yet, He endured it along with the shame, which he didn’t focus on. Why? Because of the joy before him. What was the joy? It wasn’t man’s approval or even resurrection. The joy was you! He wanted you to be in relationship with Him and the Father, as well as free from the curse of sin. He loves you!

His and ABBA’s love for you was so great that he went through horrible physical, mental and spiritual anguish to redeem you.

Have you ever endured something because you knew the end result would be worth it?

My mouth is extremely sensitive so sometimes I rinse it with Peroxide mouthwash to get some relief. I have to swish it around in my mouth for 1 minute. During that minute, my eyes water and my face turns red because it burns so badly. Yet, the end result is peace in my mouth which causes me to endure so I focus on that.

The point here is that I decide if I want to endure or not. And often I say yes to myself because of what the end result will be.

The Father did not make Jesus go to the cross. Jesus chose to say “yes” to his death, burial and resurrection because of what the end result would be. You would be redeemed and set free to live a victorious life. Seeing you and me no longer bound by sin gave him great joy and caused him to endure to the end.

With each step Jesus took, He was declaring, “You are worth it! You matter!  I want to bring you home!” The reason he went forward with God’s plan was his love for you.
