And Moses built an altar and called the name of it, The LORD Is my Banner,

We read here that the LORD is our Banner, Jehovah Nissi, the third Covenant Name. God gave victory to the Israelites over Amalek. Then, Moses built an altar on the mountain naming it “The LORD is my Banner”. Moses was saying God has given us the victory. He has made us conquerors. The LORD is our Victory.
His Name, Jehovah Nissi, shows us His character. He is our Victory, our Conqueror. He does not want us to be afraid, worried or stressed because He is going to take care of us and the situation. Our part is to turn our heart toward Him so that He can lead us and give us wisdom; it is not to fear or panic.
Just as in Jesus’ days on earth, we are faced with the unexpected which can cause stress, worry, anxiousness and fear. In the midst of all that, God says to remember His Name. Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe”. He’s talking about the meaning of His Name – knowing that God is our Victory, no matter what we are facing.
Jesus demonstrated his trust in the Father in Mark 4:39 when He stood up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. He was the Victor over the wind and sea. Jesus was fully human, but He trusted His Father and used the authority given to Him by the Holy Spirit. He is showing us how to live.
God wants you and me to trust Him just as Jesus did. Merely reading the words is not enough. Everyday this week meditate, imagine and ponder on the Name Jehovah Nissi. See Him giving you victory. Picture yourself in the boat with Jesus as He calms the sea. Then picture Him in your situation today. He is the same and will be forever.
Jesus’ banner over you and me is LOVE. Perfect love casts out fear and when fear goes, victory comes.
He is Jehovah Nissi, Eternally your Victory!
