he foolishness of a man twists his way, And his heart frets against the LORD.
— Proverbs 19:3 (NKJ)
God created the most beautiful, peaceful, fulfilling garden in the world and put mankind in it. He wanted to show His love for us and have fellowship with us, taking care of us in the best way possible, leading and guiding us.
Abba loves you so much and has good for you. Yet, instead of enjoying all that He has given us, we sometimes focus on the negative. When a plan, relationship or desire goes awry, we flare up and want to put the blame on somebody else. Many times we feel betrayed or hurt by God. We lash out saying, “You could have stopped this or done something different. You are God!” Rage pours forth against God.
What does scripture say? It says that we have a choice, a choice to do things God’s way or our way. Didn’t He give Adam and Eve a choice? Or did He force them to rebel?
The Word of God also says that every good and perfect gift comes from Him. If this is true, do bad things come from God? Pain, hurt, disappointment, sadness, depression, sickness, failure – are these from God? Many people think so.
Even though I’ve been told that God uses bad things to teach us something, I haven’t found a verse saying that. I don’t see Jesus teaching people that way and He is the exact representation of the Father. (Hebrews 1:3) I can learn from them, but that is not God’s way of teaching.
After Adam and Eve sinned, God went looking for them. He called out to them, even though it was their choice that brought evil on themselves and into the world. God never said He was going to teach them something by punishing them. He said, “You chose your way and it’s going to be hard, but I still want to help you”.
The devil wants us to think badly of God. His plan, from the beginning, was to smear God’s character. He put doubt into Eve’s mind about God’s goodness causing her to think God was holding out on her.
When you have doubts about God because of your circumstances and you want to blame Him, read for yourself about His character traits in the OT and look at the life and ways of Jesus. Then look back over your choices.
Eve could have reminded herself of all God had provided and done for them. He was not holding out on them. But she chose not to look at what God had done. She believed the lie and they rebelled against God.
God is good. He is always good! He is always for you! Repent, (not talking about groveling) but to change your view and opinion, and let God get you back on track.
“Life without Christ is but an illusion.”
