It is impossible for those immersed in flesh to at the same time accommodate themselves to the opinion, desire and interest of God.
— Romans 8:8 (The Mirror)
The wallpaper for this month shows a bird looking in a mirror. The blue sky and trees look to be real, but the bird is only seeing an illusion. He is actually looking at the illusion from a view without Christ, having no idea that the blue skies and green trees are not his reality. He doesn’t perceive the cracked and broken glass.
When we live according to the flesh, which is our five senses, we are living in an illusion. We are deceived into thinking the illusion is reality because it is what we detect through our eyes, ears, nose and touch. It seems so very real.
However, the five senses should not be the basis for what we perceive as our reality. When we choose life in Christ, we find truth, God’s reality.
When we state God’s word and it seems contradictory to our circumstances, we think we are stating a falsehood. This is because we are perceiving God’s word through the flesh, the 5 senses. Yet, there is another dimension, a reality which is far beyond the senses. It is God’s truth, the Kingdom of Heaven given to us through Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection for living the abundant life (John 10:10).
When I filter my life through the finished work of Jesus, I am acknowledging God’s reality as my reality.
However, this is what we do. We live life filtered through the 5 senses which is a misconception. Only life in Christ is really real.
Choose your filter to be through Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection because
“Life without Christ is but an illusion”.
