. . .love does not keep a record of wrongs.
— 1 Corinthians 13:5b (GNT)
The Father who is Love keeps no record of being wronged. Really? True, God is not sitting on His throne just waiting to catch you doing something wrong. He does not get His pad of paper out to write down your wrongs so He can punish you. God keeps no record of being wronged. Therefore, sin does not separate you from God. I grew up believing this lie, but it was Adam and Eve who hid from God after they sinned. God did not separate Himself from them. In fact, He went looking for them, asking, “where are you?”.
Instead of reprimanding them with, “Do you understand what you have done? Now death, darkness, depression, anger, war, rejection, hate, jealousy, sickness and disease will come upon mankind because of your wrong choice. It will be horrific and you are to blame!”
No, instead God stood with Adam and Eve and cursed the devil. In spite of what they chose, He told them He would make a way to restore the human race back to His original plan. Isn’t that amazing? He did not blame them by pointing out their wrong, or berating them.
He went forward with His plan of restoration. What amazing and awesome Love! He showed kindness and goodness to man even after he sinned. He wasn’t interested in blaming. What a beautiful picture of forgiveness and restoration. This is God and what He does.
God’s plan since the beginning of time has been to have relationship with us. We rejected that beautiful plan and separated ourselves from the one who loves us most. We still do this today and yet he calls out to us with love beyond what we understand and know. His love is not human love that fluctuates. His love is an unconditional forever love.
He has come to bring us unto Himself. That is His plan. He is Immanuel, God with us! He says I will be a Father to them, and they shall be my people (2 Corinthians 6:18). He wants you to know Him. He wants you to come to Him. He has restored you to all that He intended for you.
Fault-finding is not God’s way. He is not upset with you, He is not disappointed in you. He is not judging you. He is not punishing you. He took all the judgment for you.
When you read through 1 Corinthians 13 replace the word love with the word God because we know that God is love (1 John 4:16).
He loves you. “Leap into the sea of His love.” It is amazing.

He Sings Over You
