December 2023 Wallpaper

December 1, 2023

Hope is fulfilled in Jesus.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

— Isaiah 52:7 (NKJ)

This verse has always brought to mind missionaries, those that take the Gospel to far away lands and while this is a part of it (Romans 10:15) there is more to be seen in these words.

The thread of the Old Testament is Jesus concealed while the New Testament is Jesus revealed. When you read the Old Testament looking for Jesus, you begin to realize he is hidden within the words, stories and pages. (Luke 24:27)

This verse says that the one bringing news proclaims peace, glad tidings, salvation and says “your God reigns”. In some translations it says “your God is King!” So who is the bearer of these wonderful things?

Lets look at each phrase in Isaiah 52:7

1. Upon the mountain – …Jesus went up on a mountain to pray…Luke 4:12 (NLT) ~ Jesus was on the mountains

2. Brings good news – “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News…”Luke 4:18 (NLT) ~ Jesus said this of himself

3. Proclaims peace – He came and proclaimed the good news of peace…Ephesians 2:17 (CSB) ~ This is speaking of Jesus

4. Brings glad tidings of good things – And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Luke 2:10 (KJV) ~ This is speaking of Jesus

5. Proclaims salvation – For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11 (NKJ) ~ This is speaking of Jesus

6. Your God reigns / Your God is King – “…Here comes your king, riding on a young donkey.” John 12:15 (GNT) ~ This is speaking of Jesus

How beautiful are the feet of Jesus, the bearer of these wondrous things. Jesus IS Good News. Jesus IS Peace. Jesus IS Glad Tidings of good things. Jesus IS Salvation. Jesus IS King!

Interesting to note that Mary acknowledges “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news”, by anointing Jesus’ feet with costly perfume and wiping them with her hair. (John 12:3)

Good news is not an item to read or obtain; peace and salvation are not a thing to have. But rather, each of these is the person of Jesus. JESUS is the fulfillment of these things. He is Emmanuel, God with us. When you have HIM, you have all of these things.

Remember, as you start this Christmas season, all things hoped for are fulfilled in the person of Jesus who is the plan of the ages. “LOVE has come”.
