So Ruth gathered barley there all day, and when she beat out the grain that evening, it filled an entire basket. She carried it back into town and showed it to her mother-in-law. Ruth also gave her the roasted grain that was left over from her meal.

Boaz goes over and blesses Ruth. He says you have come to trust under the wings of the Lord. I’ve heard about you so make sure you stay in this field and don’t go wandering off and we will look after you. When lunch came, the servants along with Boaz have lunch together and he says, Ruth, you come and sit with us and share our food. Boaz wanted to be sure she had enough until she said, “I am so full” and she took some home to Naomi. Boaz said you can drink from our water fountain when you get thirsty. Then he turned to his employees and said, be sure you drop a lot for her – get loose handed. And that good stuff, drop that too so she can pick it up.
God provides. He was Ruth and Naomi’s provision and He is yours and mine. We must get our focus off the problem and do what is at hand to do, trusting the Father. We give energy to whatever we focus on. That becomes our reality. Ruth was doing what she saw to do and Abba was leading and directing. She focused on His love and provision.
All Ruth wanted was groceries – to come home with a basket full of barley so she and Naomi could eat. She had no idea of God’s purpose which was beyond anything she could ever imagine. At this point in the story, all she does is delight in God’s love and trust it. All she does is expect and anticipate. God is silently and invisibly at work all over Bethlehem to bring His promises to pass in her life and in Naomi’s. She enjoys the moment not realizing that this moment would actually lead to your salvation and mine.
Always return to the faithfulness of God! He will not and has not forsaken you.
Some of you may be dealing with something in your life and you may feel like Ruth did. Sit back and get into the love of God that flows. Rest and sit in the reality of His love and anticipate the blessing in all your dealings and interactions. He is faithful!
